  Wow you are seriously considering CDJ 350s? I mean they are totally outdated and you cannot do a fraction of what you can do with a controller and laptop…

  If you like Traktor so much, why not get with a more recent Traktor controller like an S2 or Digital Jockey Remix?

  350’s are the latest incarnation at the low end of the Pioneer CDJ range and have been out for a few years only and are still actively sold. So I’d have to disagree about them being outdated (there isn’t a newer model in the range yet).

  They do USB, CD and Midi. I have played with them with Traktor once when the DJM350 broke on us at the beginning of the gig and my trusty laptop saved the day. They were perfectly fine to control Traktor decks with, imho.

  I agree with not going back to traditional setups consisting of CDJs (midi-capable or not) with an analogue mixer. There isn’t much to be gained. The DDJ-R1 is an option is you want it all. The decks are effectively CDJ-350s, so if you need/want that feel, it’s what get.

  Let me rephrase it to: For the cash you spend on 2 350s you get something more technological advanced easily (even in Pioneers offerings, say a DDJ-SR).

  And yes, the SR if you want to go full controller or the R1 if you still want to be able to play CD’s and USB stick and/or play without a laptop if need be.

  Vintage and me are long time DJs and we also came from Vinyl and CDJs and now almost exclusively use controllers.
  Digital is no toy, it is the future and in no way do you not manual beatmatch…. I actually never use the SYNC button on my controller… but controllers give you so much more performance options with better effects, samples, some controllers are really good for scratching, slicer modes, on the fly remixing etc.
